highlighting our wedding flowers in vintage vessels by @floraanddean, our upcycled petal toss + our flower repurposing by @forgetmeknotflowers | 11/28/23 by Meghan Kennedy
We have so much to be thankful for this year - it’s extra special celebrating our first holiday as newlyweds after our November 3rd wedding!
Ushering in the holiday season as Mr. And Mrs. has us feeling so sentimental. Our fairytale wedding would not have been possible without our incredible team of vendors, family, and friends who gifted us their time, love, and joy on our day.
Flowers have become so special to me over the past few years - from growing them in our own backyard to tending to the blooms on the Rancocas Creek Farm with our CSA farm share.
I found myself in love with the process of saving and preserving flowers.
Over the past year my bridesmaids, Mom, and I dried hydrangeas, roses, marigolds, nasturtiums, and wildflowers from our yard and the farm - hanging bouquets upside down in our basement, kitchen, and front porch.
I asked my bridesmaids and Mom to treat themselves to the occasional bouquet and eventually, we had bags and jars filled with dried flowers. Mom combined and bagged the assorted petals in sachets for guests to toss at our wedding petal exit from Trinity Episcopal Church.
It was a full circle moment - having our family and friends shower us with love and flowers from people and places so meaningful to us.
When it came time to hire our vendors we wanted to keep them as tight to our circle as possible - working with friends, family friends, and friends of friends. The powerful energy that stems from personal connection is like none other.
We were elated that Sal was available to design the flowers for our big day - traveling from Staten Island, NY to our venue in Moorestown, NJ.
I had the pleasure of working with Sal Pavia from Flora and Dean back in 2017 in Rock of Ages at The Eagle Theatre in Hammonton, NJ. We both went through major career transitions over the past few years - encouraging one another along the way with our creative small business developments.
What Sal crafted for our wedding was beyond my wildest dreams. When he handed me my bridal bouquet I really felt like a bride.
His floral design was nothing like I’ve ever seen on Pinterest or wedding blogs. He brought to life the true essence of our wedding day - honoring our modern vintage style while meeting our sustainability standards and budget.
A true work of art - his team outdid themselves with the assortment, curation, and arrangement of blooms. Stunning flowers of the highest quality adorned every inch of our 1926 historical venue (@communityhouseweddings). He made sure local NJ flowers were included in our arrangements from the @jerseycutflowermarket and worked with our uniquely curated lucid ladybug assorted vintage vessels.
Wildly romantic and antique with textures to grab your attention - each table was uniquely captivating.
Our vessels were all vintage - brass spittoons and vases, crystal bud vases, vintage bar pitchers, and decanters - each offering a different variety for our guests to admire.
We had Sal’s flowers up-cycled after the wedding by Forget Me Knot Flowers.
Leona of Forget Me Knots Flowers is an incredible woman on a mission to spread love and light through thoughtfully repurposing wedding flowers! See a video recap here from our volunteer day in October.
The morning after our wedding a group of volunteers in Haddonfield, NJ repurposed our larger arrangements into smaller vessels gifting our gorgeous flowers a second life - brightening the lives of those in nursing homes, care facilities, and local hospitals.
Vases were delivered to the Samaritan Hospice who took care of my late Uncle Bob.
We are so grateful to have worked with Sal and the entire Flora and Dean team as well as Leona from Forget Me Knot Flowers. The gorgeous photos are just a sneak peek from our wildly talented photographer, @laurabriggsphoto.
