a curated holiday photo display featuring locally sourced vintage, up-cycled and handmade treasures | 11/19/22
Find those moments that feel like play. Honor them. Cherish them.
So grateful for the opportunity to create alongside my sissy, Liz (@knottylizard) + our childhood friend, Emily (@shilohgracephotography) this past weekend in Monroeville, NJ. I had the pleasure of creative directing and of course, opted for the eco-friendly way to source all the treasures.
Festive vintage brass decor + candlestick holders were used to display @pinebarrenspost beeswax tapers. Our vintage wooden rudolph + angel were rescued from the market - a little DIY paint touch-up and the pieces were perfect for our neutral holiday aesthetic.
Of course, we brought along some of our vintage books from the collection- two Norman Rockwell art books + a few other art classics.
It wouldn't be a lucid ladybug shoot without a vintage picnic basket and a vintage runner rug (fun fact: the rug is from grandmom grace’s house).
Dried florals adorned both sides of the bench in our handcrafted matte vases. Drying flowers/greenery is super easy and an eco-conscious way to prolong the life of your favorite bouquets. We try our best to reduce, reuse + recycle.. and that applies to everything!
We gathered and hand-strung pine cones to make natural ornaments for the tree - a super simple craft if you have little ones!
The matte vases we crafted ourselves - upcycling plain glass vases from the thrift shop. We mixed acrylic paint with baking soda, powder, and/or spackle to create different textures on the varying vases.
Three Christmas trees were on display from my personal holiday collection (yes, I am my Mother's daughter) and we used recycled boxes and bows for presents under the tree. We couldn't forget the prop basket which held our mistletoe from @everettewilsondesigns and a few other trinkets to distract the kiddos. Next year Liz + I might just dress up like elves!
@knottylizard's handmade custom macrame backdrop on the gold hoop added such a lovely touch to the already gorgeous outdoor scenery.
Liz incorporated some disco ball flair to the tree with custom-made ornaments - perfect gifts for the holiday season!
It was a true joy watching so many special moments between parents and kids. I loved watching Emily's patience and grace with each family that stepped onto the scene.
Our first family of the day even surprised their two little ones with a yellow lab puppy -- giant box and big red bow included! How precious.
I am so grateful that the work I am creating and cultivating helps elevate special moments for others. lucid ladybug is truly all about sparking conscious conversations. Encouraging us all to be present with our presence this holiday season -- especially with those who light up our lives and make each day worth celebrating.
Cheers to more of that! Be well, Meghan
