The heart of our business is sparking conscious conversations. As a Sustainable Wedding Stylist, I help couples intentionally plan for their big day while keeping the planet in mind.

This spring brought us to New York Bridal Fashion Week to cover some of the top wedding gown designers in the world. I was elated for the opportunity to interview a fellow Sustainable Stylist + Designer, Ou Ma, about her 2026 Spring collection, "Echo" - " where whispers of love linger and beauty reverberate timelessly.

Ou Ma rescues her scrap fabric to upcycle into dainty details for her gowns, veils, and even bride bags and earrings! We bonded over our love of the "bride bag" and of rescuing treasures that would normally go to waste.

From Beijing to FIT in NYC, Ou Ma has always carried a passion for creative expression. After working for Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, Ou Ma transitioned her vision to the world of bridal, sticking with her bridal line when moving to her now home base in Vancouver, B.C.

Ou shared her inspiration from the "soft yet powerful nature of the wind." With each gown embodying "quiet strength, elegance, and romance", the collection was truly magnificent to see come to life at One Fine Day Bridal Market.

Ou spoke of the bridal journey and the precious moments that echo forever, cherished as special memories for every bride. Brides must practice strength and vulnerability throughout the planning process, and Ou Ma's mission is to create ethereal gowns that honor the individuality of every bride.

"With delicate fabrics like silk tulle or georgette that float like a gentle breeze, and silhouettes that embody both movement and structure, this collection speaks to the multifaceted nature of love and womanhood. From intricately handcrafted details to fashion-forward touches, these gowns are designed for the modern bride who cherishes tradition but isn't afraid to embrace her own story."

We look forward to following along with Ou's journey as more couples shift their focus toward sustainable practices and seek out vendors who honor sustainability.

Our hope at lucid ladybug is to spark a conscious conversation about upcycling and to inspire intentional practices and planning for life's celebrations.
